Peralta Better than Anticipated (DSB)

Before coming to Detroit, Jhonny Peralta's numbers this season weren't exactly eye opening. He was batting .246 with 7 HRs and 43 RBIs. The low number of RBIs can probably be traced back to Cleveland's not so great offense, but the rest of the numbers lie on him. When Detroit made the trade for him, they knew he wasn't exactly the missing piece that could make Detroit's injury-riddled lineup become a run producing machine. But one thing was for sure: he would for sure be a better bat than Scott Sizemore, and Jhonny also would be a much better fit in the field considering 3rd base was actually his native position. Jhonny made it to the Detroit team in time to play all 3 games of the Boston series. Jhonny had an incredible debut with the Tigers going 3-4 for 2 HRs and 3 RBIs. Jhonny ended up finishing the the series going 5-11 with 2 HRs, 4 RBIs and 2 runs. I realize I shouldn't be getting too excited just yet, considering these numbers are the product of only 3 games. But something to note is that Jhonny didn't put up these type of numbers against a team like the Orioles or the Royals, he put them up against Boston Red Sox pitching which included Lester, Wakefield, Buchholz, and Papelbon. So that IS something to get excited about. Good luck to Jhonny Peralta in Detroit.
